-
1954..Godzilla I appears and
is vanquished by an Oxygen Destroyer.
-
1955. Godzilla II appears.
-
1962-1975 Godzilla II fights
a succession of monsters and in 1975 swims back into the ocean.
-
1984. Godzilla II reappears.
-
1989. Godzilla II reappears
again and is infected with ANB. 1992 interlopers teleport the dinosaur
that is actually Godzilla II, assuming that it's Godzilla I.
Godzilla I history remains unchanged,
but Godzilla II history experiences a significant alteration between '55
and '75. In '77 a nuclear sub is sunk, in 1984 Godzilla II returns a full
30 meters taller than before. in 1989 Godzilla somehow manages to beat
the ANB infection and in 1992, the beast returns. The demise of Godzilla
I in 1954 explains why everyone in 1992 still knows of the beast even though
an attempt was made to remove him from history. It also facilitates the
development of Destroyah. The presence of a larger Godzilla II facilitates
the development of Space Godzilla. The changes simply ignore the presence
of Godzilla II throughout a 20 year span. It has always been known that
Godzilla is a mutation spawned by nuclear radiation. It is fair to assume,
as Dr. Yamane himself postulated that there are more where Godzilla I came
from. Godzilla III puts in an appearance in the year 2000. Godzilla III
has been assumed to be the offspring (or at least a nephew) of Godzilla
II in the 1984-1995 timeline. However, this cannot be conclusively proven,
as Godzilla III manifests different characteristics than the fully grown
Junior. It is possible that Godzilla Jr made a psychic pact with Miki Saegusa
not to disturb the human race and that Godzilla III has no such concern
for humans.
A WORD ON MINYA
If it is the same Godzilla
II then we can speculate that Junior is actually Minya, though in a more
feral form from increased radiation as a result of timeline alteration.
Sexual reproduction in Godzilla is not necessary. If the regular cells
in Godzilla's body are self-perpetuating, the eggs in a female could be
self-fertilizing. However, only one egg matures into a baby Godzilla once
every 20 years.
GODZILLA BEFORE 1954?
According to Oto Island
legend, several hundred years passed in which a young virgin was sent out
on a raft in sacrifice to a god called Godzilla. It is highly doubtful
that this Godzilla was radioactive. How Godzillasaurus managed to survive
into the twentieth century is a mystery. I guess a virgin a day keeps extinction
away? :)
