Barney found dead in New York City; police try to deal with grisly remains

The Victim

The Suspect

In a startling turn of events, Barney the Dinosaur was discovered dead in Central Park at 4:15 this morning.
It took seven city workers to clean up the incredible mess left by Barney's demise, for his purple flesh was hanging from the trees in tattered chunks. For now it is not known for sure who or what did this, but it is known that TriStar Pictures is filming "Godzilla" and the picture is slated for release May 20, 1998.
Dean Devlin, who is producing the film, had no comment, but an employee who asked not to be identified said, "Godzilla has always had an extremely voracious appetite...even when filming "The Lost World", no one in the business has ever seen anything like this...!"

An eyewitness who was in the park was carrying a tape recorder at the time of the attack. Steven Johnson, a budding naturalist, recorded the attack on tape when he had originally intended to capture the sounds made by nature.

Conservative groups have expressed relief at Barney's demise and animal rights activists are decrying the senseless slaughter. More on this matter as it unfolds...
