The page that started them all: Mark Meloon's Godzilla Page.
In 1994, a new era dawned in cyberspace. A young man by the name of Mark Meloon put together a Web Page.
But, this wasn't just any Web Page. This was to change and grow into one of the biggest, most popular things to ever hit the Internet...for his page was the first Godzilla page
on the Net.
It had cool model pictures and statistics on Godzilla and all his friends and foes. It had a complete list of resources, and a complete list of all Godzilla's movies, both old and new. Finally, it was the father of all the Godzilla Web pages, great and small, including this one.
It earned him a spot on Cyberlife, and gained him fortune and fame. (whether it gained him chicks as well, I cannot say! =)
Truly, it was one of the greatest Godzilla Pages to ever hit the Internet.
It is with great regret that I must report that the time has come to bid Mark's Godzilla Page a tearful farewell. It is in all honesty that I say, that Conster's Museum of Godzilla, as well as all the others, would not even be here if it weren't for the genius and long hours of hard work and example of Mark Meloon. So we bid thee a sad farewell, O great Mel's Godzilla Page, and we hope that someday, your creator Lord Mark will change his mind and you will return to us once again (we can only hope!)
If you have questions, please e-mail them to me and I will forward them to Mark!
And now, a message to Mark...
I didn't know if I should just keep it between us or tell the world. I decided to tell the world, because genius like yours should never go unrecognized.
As far as my page goes, I admit freely that I owe everything I have to your example. I wish that you would change your mind, because no matter what, Mark Meloon still has the best damn Godzilla page there is! Not even mine can top what you've done with yours. And I want you to know that I've made some of the best damn friends I've ever had, you included!
Even Masahiro Kitada, because that newspaper article which was supposed to be about your page ended up being about mine instead. Kitada and I wouldn't be friends today if it weren't for you...and Toshi, and Kris, and Mark Putt, and all the others on the Net I've grown to care about, even love.
Our Lord tells us in a parable never to bury our talents, but to use them in ways that can help others to grow. I've been there with you from the beginning, and I've seen what your talent has done. I think it is fair to say, that the world is a better place because Mark Meloon is in it. And I hope you never get so caught up in your mathematical courses or your career that you never have time to talk to me.
Take care of yourself, and I still hope you'll change your mind...!!
