The Plot for "Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla"!

1992- After Godzilla's recent appearances in Japan, a special branch of the U.N. has been named the Godzilla Countermeasures Unit and designated to keep Godzilla out of Japan. After the crushing defeat of MechaKing Ghidora, the Godzilla force managed to salvage what was left of the mechanical super cyborg and borrow the 23rd century technology to give birth to new and better anti-Godzilla weaponry. The first machine, Garuda, though it excelled in flight ability, presented serious problems as far as hand to hand combat went. The G-Force went on to build a mechanical replica of the monster, coated with artificial diamond and equipped with an extra-powerful Plasma Grenade, which when Godzilla fired its breath weapon, it would amplify the concentrated ray and turn it on Godzilla. Truly, to date, this was the most powerful weapon ever conceived by man.

The inventor of the Garuda sat inside its cockpit hammering away at the keyboard of a Macintosh powerbook. Kazuma Aoki, clad in coveralls over suit pants, a shirt and necktie, wiped the sweat from his brow. Suddenly on the viewscreen, he saw his supervisor and a young lady approach. Cursing underneath his breath, he got out of the Garuda and shed the coveralls. Putting his suit jacket back on, and adjusting his tie, Aoki pulled out a notebook and tried to look busy. Aoki finds out that the lovely young lady accompanying his supervisor is his replacement. He's been dismissed from the Robotics Department and assigned to G-Force.
Aoki gets more than he bargains for when he gets stuck with an autocrat named Takuya Sasaki. Sasaki makes it his genuine pleasure to hound Aoki about anything and everything, including his interest in Pteranodons.

Adonoa Island -- Winter, 1992. A group of scientists is dispatched to this area. While drilling for oil with the Russians here, the Japanese discovered an incredible find: Pteranodon fossils and an egg that is of indeterminate origin but in incredible condition! Later that evening, one of the scientists, named Omae, and his assisant, Azusa Gojo, see the egg turning red. The Russian with them spots a living Pteranodon!

Rodan has appeared on the island. It trashes the camp by flying overhead, igniting tents from an overturned fuel can. The frantic scientists manage to secure the egg and get it into the helicopter. As the terrified group makes their way to the beach, they see a bright, blinding light emanating from the ocean's depths. Godzilla has arrived!
Rodan doesn't take kindly to the presence of the big G on the island, so he attacks. The two monsters tear into each other with a vengeance. While Godzilla is busy with Rodan, the chopper with everyone plus the egg aboard makes its escape. After defeating Rodan, Godzilla follows the helicopter as if he wanted something with it...

Aoki saw the news story about the egg on TV. Thinking it to be a pteranodon, he rushes to the lab in Kyoto. Once there, he sees it all: the egg, with monitors attached to a computer; the pretty lady sitting at the interface. Azusa Gojo has been assigned to watch the egg carefully for changes in temperature, movement, etc. She wondered what this man was doing here.
"Isn't it amazing? A 65 million year old egg! I can't believe it!" the man exclaimed. Azusa nervously spied the camera he wore around his neck, thinking him to be a reporter. "Who are you?" she asked with trepidation.
"How's it going? Name's Aoki." Aoki replied cheerfully.
"Which newspaper?" she asked.
"Actually, I'm an enthusiastic pteranodon fan," he replied.
"This place is off limits!" she protested.
"Isn't it ok? I came a long way for this!" Aoki pleaded.
"You really can't!" Azusa said firmly. Aoki spied the dinosaur age plant life on the desk and started toward it, saying, "What is this?"
"Don't you dare!" she snapped. Reproachfully she looked at him, head drooping downward, fidgeting with his camera.
The phone rang, and Azusa answered it. "Yes...Yes, I'll be there. Thanks." Turning toward Aoki, she said, "You'll have to go home."
"Can I leave a note for Dr. Omae or something?" he pleaded. "No!" she barked. Azusa followed a thoroughly chastened (so she thought) Aoki to the door, and was just about to close it when he whirled around, catching the door with his palm.
"How about you and me? Something unexpected might develop from this encounter," Aoki said. Azusa , feeling a blush rise to her cheeks, countered, "Don't count on it," slamming the door on him before he could say more.

Azusa Gojo went down to Dr. Omae's office. Omae told her that the egg has indeed been changing color, as Azusa said. Omae also told her that the egg turned red when it was frightened or stressed. It turned red whenever Azusa was out of the room. Omae speculated that whatever was inside the egg, it had adopted Azusa for its mother. Upon hearing this, Azusa was amazed.

She went back to the lab and was mulling this over when the phone rang. She answered it, only to find herself talking to...Aoki.
"I'm really sorry, somehow it got in my pocket, but I'll bring it back as soon as I can," Aoki said. Azusa felt her hackles rising at this twerp! "Is this your idea of a practical joke? Or are you an adult! Bring it back!!!" she barked, slamming down the receiver in his ear.
Aoki replaced the phone in its cradle and looked at the dinosaur-age plant he'd filched from the lab. "I guess I made a big mistake," he muttered.

Aoki went to the cafeteria for lunch. He finds himself sitting next to Miki Saegusa, the psychic girl. Miki detects something emanating from the plant, so the two take it to the Psyonic Center where they turn the psychic children loose on it.

The next day, Aoki returns the plant and a tape to the lab for Dr. Omae's interest. Playing the tape, the three listen to it intently.
Azusa checked the readouts of the egg and the information on the monitor, startled when the egg began to glow and do strange things. All of a sudden, energy began to feed back through the monitors and into the computer! The overload proved to be too much, shattering the computer and the glass casing!
A stunned Azusa watched as the egg began to move about; then all at once, arms and legs began to punch through the shell! Egg shell went flying everywhere, even landing at Azusa's feet. Azusa stumbled to the phone and hastily stabbed Omae's extension into the keypad.
Omae, Miki, Aoki, and the others rushed down to the lab. Omae threw open the door; nothing could prepare them for what they saw. Before them stood a newly hatched Godzillasaurus only about eight feet tall. The baby waddled up to Azusa and licked her hand to her amazement.

Miki senses danger approaching. With her telepathy, she reached out; she felt Godzilla approaching. Quickly they move Baby to the basement. Godzilla approaches the building. He seems to know that his youngster is inside; but, frustrated, he knocks over half the building and turns around and heads back to the ocean. Since the building can no longer be used, Baby is transported to a holding pen several hundred miles away.

The next day, Takuya Sasaki chews Aoki up one side of Mt. Fuji and down the other for not being there when MechaGodzilla was launched. MechaGodzilla had intercepted its organic prototype (Godzilla, what else?) and had successfully mown him down until the Shock Anchors were launched. What Sasaki hadn't counted on was Godzilla's own shock wave.
The great lizard sent an electrical current back through the lines, shorting out MechaGodzilla. Godzilla then shoved his mechanized foe out of the way and proceeded to look for the young one.

Sasaki was really angry; not only at MechaGodzilla's defeat but at Aoki's antics. As a punishment, he demoted Aoki to parking lot duty.

MechaGodzilla was getting worked on in the repair shop. Dr. Asimov was the main robotics scientist in charge of MechaGodzilla's schematics. Aoki the parking lot attendant accosts Asimov in the parking garage. He proposes combining Garuda and MechaGodzilla in such a way as to increase MechaGodzilla's striking power and create "SuperMechaGodzilla." As a reward for his ingenuity, Aoki is reinstated to the robotics department.

The military is also working on a new weapon for MechaGodzilla: G-Crusher. Studies done on the Baby Godzilla point to the existence of the sacral brain, a bundle of nerves in charge of operating the lower body. The plan is to use Miki's telepathy to locate the one in Godzilla, fire the Shock Anchors into the area, and destroy Godzilla's sacral brain with high-voltage currents of electricity. The only catch is, the military wants to use Baby to lure Godzilla to an undeveloped archipelago.
Over Azusa's and Miki's protests, the decision is made to fly Baby by way of helicopter transport to the place. Baby is loaded onto the transport which will take him to the battle ground. Azusa, who insisted upon accompanying Baby, notices that Baby's eye is turning red.

Rodan appears in Japan and destroys the helicopter taking Baby and Azusa. He grabs the transport with his talons, carrying Baby and Azusa away... The crew of MechaGodzilla is preparing for takeoff to combat Rodan. Aoki somehow steals the Garuda and joins MechaGodzilla for the operation. Hearing about the demise of the transport chopper and of the uncertain fate of Azusa, Aoki decides to take action! Sasaki reluctantly decides to allow Aoki to join the mission.

Rodan lands and begins to destroy the transport. A panicked Baby begins to utter loud shrieks and Azusa isn't so self-possessed herself. Aoki flies in and tries to lure Rodan away by shooting at him. Rodan follows after the Garuda. MechaGodzilla and Rodan get into a fight. The crew discovers that with Godzilla and Rodan's battle on Adonoa Island, and Rodan's subsequent exposure to Godzilla's radiation, Rodan now has a breath weapon of his very own. They use this to their own advantage and shoot Rodan down with MechaGodzilla's Plasma Grenade. The giant pteranodon falls to the ground, blood streaming from his mouth and a huge gaping wound in his chest.

Godzilla arrives as the army is trying to free Azusa and Baby from the damaged container. Godzilla and MechaGodzilla begin to battle each other once again. Simultaneously they each fired their prospective breath rays; which counteracted each other, resulting in a huge explosion which shorts MechaGodzilla temporarily and knocks Godzilla on his butt. Godzilla gets up and pummels MechaGodzilla with all his might. Aoki shoots Godzilla down and connects Garuda with MechaGodzilla to form SuperMechaGodzilla.

They continue to fire at the hapless Godzilla. Godzilla, weakened, begins to stumble. Miki donned her telepath-interface helmet and with her telepathy reached out to Godzilla. She searched through everything: the taut tendons, tensed muscles, and huge bones until she found what she sought... There is was, the sacral brain; pulsating as it sent nerve impulses from Godzilla's reptilian brain to his lower body. She knew what she was expected to do, but still, she hesitated. I can't do this, she admonished herself, suddenly pulling off the helmet.
An angry voice shattered the pregnant silence as it crackled over the intercom: "Saegusa, what the hell's the matter with you? DO IT." Reluctantly, she put the helmet back on; and with sorrow in her heart, locked on to where the others should fire.
As the harpoons tore Godzilla's flesh and into his sacral region, his eyes glowed thermonuclear red with fear; primitive terror registered on his brain. He struggled to unhook the painful claws that held at his sides, but to no avail. The beast began to scream in pain and utter terror as he felt the electrical buzz of the Shock Anchor. Suddenly, Godzilla felt his lower half go completely numb!
Miki pressed the lever that increased the voltage, destroying his sacral brain completely. She watched with a sense of guilt as the nerve bundle exploded and disintegrated; Godzilla slumped over helpless on the ground.
Miki took off the helmet, her mind in a muddle, not wanting to believe what had just happened. Her brown eyes, glued to the monitor, plainly showed utter sorrow.

In contrast, the pilot of the Garuda was ecstatic. "We did it! We really did it! We really are the G-Force!" Aoki exclaimed. His thoughts turned to someone else. "Well, everyone, see you later!" he said airily. He took off in the flying machine he had built. Carefully (it had run out of fuel the last time) he descended through the air and set down gently on the ground next to the container. Frantically he pushed past the welder who was trying to cut through the metal to get Azusa and Baby out of there. He pounded on the door, yelling, "Azusa chan! Are you all right?"
To his relief, her voice (so melodic, he thought) answered back: "We're fine!"

"O.K., finish him," Commander Sasaki said. SuperMechaGodzilla threw everything it had at Godzilla, laying prostrate on the ground. Godzilla was done for this time. Godzilla lay helplessly as SuperMechaGodzilla's arsenal pounded him; he felt the pain fade as he lost consciousness; his reptilian heart gave out.

Baby felt that something was deadly wrong. Suddenly he was alone in the world. If he had been capable of rational thought, his impulse would have translated into "NO!!!!!!" Roaring his protest, Baby slammed his weight against the confines of the door. The welder nearly got smacked in the face as Baby threw the door open. Baby gave a loud call, a long, ululating wail of grief which reached Rodan's ears.

Through the fog of its unconcious daze, Rodan heard the loud, piercing cry. Opening its eyes, the giant pteranodon awoke; then, lifting itself off the ground, flew over to where Godzilla lay. Unfortunately, Sasaki saw it and fired a shot in Rodan's direction. In a cloud of sulfur and smoke, Rodan fell on top of Godzilla. Stretching its beak, it lay down on top of Godzilla's dorsal fin. Rodan began to glow...

On board SMG, Sasaki looked on with curiosity at the scene. He had finished off Rodan, but why had it moved to Godzilla's position? And what was the cause of all that sparkling dust...? Miki looked on, and with a hint of hope in her voice, she explained to Sasaki that Rodan was withering away and passing on his life force to Godzilla. Looking into the telepath's helmet, she saw...

...the damaged nerves regenerating, the severed ends fusing back together... ...and a sudden jolt of electricity traveling through the shock anchor and into her eyes caused her to let out an agonized scream. In concern, Sasaki checked to see that Miki was all right; then, looking back through the portal, he saw Godzilla, alive, well, and ready to fight. With a sinking feeling, he saw the artificial diamond coating melting off of SuperMechaGodzilla's exterior. Uh-oh, he thought.

Aoki and Azusa watched from a distance as Godzilla rose from where he lay dead before! They saw the tiny point of light distance itself from the SMG as Godzilla wiped it out with a bright red blast of increased thermonuclear radiation. Aoki knew that SuperMechaGodzilla was no more, but at least the crew was safe.

They both knew that it was time to go before Godzilla came to where Baby was. Tearfully, Azusa bid the baby Godzilla farewell; then entering the helicopter, she watched as Baby stared at the helicopter in the sky. She watched as the gigantic Godzilla lumbered into the strip of grass to where Baby was; she watched as Baby scooted away from Godzilla toward the security of the container. She worried that the longer Baby resisted, the worse things would be.
She radioed Miki. She asked her if she would give Baby back to Godzilla by playing back that music through her telepathy, the music that made him wild again. Miki climbed on top of the damaged chassis of the escape pod; then, taking off her helmet and loosening her ponytail, she concentrated with all her mental strength.
Her mind touched Baby's, not with her own essence, but with the music of the plant. Baby's fear began to lessen, then disappeared entirely. He approached the older Godzilla, who looked at his son with a father's tenderness. The lumbering giant, satisifed that he has found his offspring at last, turned tail and headed toward the ocean. Baby waded in after his dad. As the two were reduced to black specks on the horizon, Miki whispered under her breath: "Good-bye, Baby. Good-bye, Godzilla." She watched them swim off to sea against the beautiful red dawn.
